About
Dr. Jessica Borelli will present an overview of attachment theory, discussing its relevance to adopted children. She will then describe an attachment-based parenting intervention she developed and has extensively tested (relational savoring), leading attendees through an experiential relational savoring exercise.
Dr. Borelli is a Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Irvine, and the Clinical Director of Compass Therapy, a private practice in Newport Beach, California that specializes in work with children and families. She earned her Ph.D. from Yale University and completed her clinical residency at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. Her research, funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, examines the connections among parent–child relationships, emotion, and health, with a focus on developing relationship-based approaches to promoting resilience.
